How to clean your Beyond's lenses
Overview
The Beyond's lenses can get dirty and smudged over time, particularly if your eyelashes make contact with the lenses. They require delicate care and have special coatings, so please follow these instructions carefully.
Remove Any Prescription Lenses (if applicable)
If you have prescription lenses attached to your Beyond headset, carefully remove them before cleaning to ensure a more effective and thorough cleaning process.
Power Off the Device
Before starting, make sure your device is turned off and disconnected from any power source to avoid accidental damage.
Prepare a Clean Surface
Find a clean, dust-free area to work on. This helps prevent any debris from getting onto the lenses while cleaning.
Remove surface dust
Before cleaning the lenses, it's recommended to use a camera lens blower to gently remove any surface dust.
Use the K-Cloth
Take your K-cloth (a microfiber cloth designed for lenses). Avoid using paper towels or tissues, as they can scratch the lenses.
Wipe Gently in Circular Motions
Gently wipe the pancake lenses with the K-cloth in small, circular motions. Start from the centre of the lens and move outward. Don’t press too hard—light pressure is enough to remove dust, smudges, and fingerprints.
For Stubborn Dirt: Use the "Hot Breath" Method
If there’s any stubborn dirt or smudges that won’t come off easily, lightly fog the lens by breathing on it (as if fogging up a mirror). The slight moisture from your breath helps loosen tough spots without adding too much moisture. Then, immediately wipe the lens again using the K-cloth in the same circular motion.
Avoid Other Liquids
Do not use any cleaning sprays or liquids, as pancake lenses can be sensitive to moisture. The "hot breath" method provides just enough moisture without the risks of using cleaners.
Check for Remaining Dust or Smudges
After wiping the lenses, inspect them for any remaining dust or smudges. If needed, repeat the process.
Store the Cloth Safely
After cleaning, store the K-cloth in a clean, dry place. This will ensure it’s ready for the next time you need it. Happy cleaning!
